Early Intervention, Long-Term Impact

CHeck OUt our 2022-23 Annual Report

The Horizons at SFFS program has a profound impact on students’ academic skills as well as their confidence and social-emotional learning capacities. Our long-term approach and commitment to our students allows us to get to know them on a deeply personal level as they return year over year. We’re able to identify areas of support for all of our students and see the ways Horizons supports them to grow.

Each summer, our students gain on average 2-3 months of reading and math skills. A 2018 study of Horizons affiliates found that Horizons students had higher school attendance rates and higher proficiency rates on math and science assessments than their peers, with students who had attended the program from K through 5th grade showing the biggest improvements.

  • On average, 94% of students report learning something important to them every or most days

  • Horizons maintained a 95% student retention rate from 2022 to 2023

  • 100% of Horizons parents wish to send their child to the program again in Summer 2023

  • 91% of Horizons parents say that Horizons allows their child to do things that challenge them in a good way

My son is active, socializing, and communicating with other students. He is getting along with other children. He asks teachers to help him with school work. I see growth in him.
