On February 1st, over 200 Horizons superheroes gathered at SOMArts Cultural Center to support Horizons' upcoming fifth summer. It was a wonderful night that surpassed our ambitious goal, raising over $140,000 to support the program's continuing growth and impact! Attendees enjoyed delicious food, cheerful community, and inspiration from guest speaker Sylvia Mendez, who spoke powerfully about her role in desegregating California schools in 1947 and the duty we have to pursue educational equity today. On behalf of Horizons' staff and board, thank you to everyone who attended and gave generously to advance equitable access to quality summer learning opportunities in San Francisco. We are also deeply grateful to Sylvia for sharing her story, to our amazing volunteer auctioneer, Matt Perry, to Horizons' event planning committee, and to our many local business and individual sponsors.
