Enrichment - Horizons at San Francisco Friends School

Learning outside the box.

We know the importance of learning outside the classroom. That's why Horizons at SFFS students are exposed to a wide variety of enrichment opportunities that build upon the knowledge they're gaining and introduce them to new experiences.

Elective classes for Summer 2017 included the following:

  • Modern dance
  • Podcasting
  • Math games
  • Soccer
  • Studio art
  • Drumming
  • Cooking
  • Woodworking

Field trips also expand our students' horizons. In Summer 2018, field trips will include:

  • The California Academy of Sciences
  • The Exploratorium
  • Balmy Alley Mural Tour with Precita Eyes
  • Rock Climbing at Mission Cliffs
  • Kayaking with Environmental Traveling Companions
  • 826 Valencia
  • School of Rock at the Orpheum Theatre
  • The San Francisco Zoo
While the significant advances in the students’ reading and math continue to astound me everyday, the true magic of the program comes from after-swimming smiles, culture-based experiences throughout the Mission, and the looks of accomplishment on students’ faces when a challenge is overcome.
